Fused Glass Relief Print

Can You Hear Me

Fused Glass Relief Print

5″ x 5″ x 3/4″

I know it’s been awhile since my last post, but I’ve been working on a technique that combines relief printing and glass fusing.  This is the result.  It’s printed using glass powder on multiple pieces of clear sheet glass, which are then fused together to make an image /object the viewer can look into.  More to come, but I’m very excited.

Have a great day!

I’ve been printing a lot recently, but not taking many pictures.  Gotta get on that.

Have a great day,

Printmaking Residency

1000px-Penland_School_of_Crafts_panorama
Great News!  I’ve been accepted into the winter printmaking residency at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina.  I’m really excited to spend two weeks in January working on a larger scale woodblock print, have access to state of the art facilities and meet other printmakers.  I’ll make sure to post pictures of my trip and my work as they both unfold.
Here is one of my newer prints

New Prints!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything, but I wanted to share some new works in progress.  Here are a couple of woodblocks I plan on printing this weekend.  My life has been extremely busy over the past year, but I hope to begin a more steady blog presence again.  I’ve also changed the look of the site and would appreciate any feedback.  Let me know what you think.

New Print From Found Wood

This is one of the woodcuts I worked on outside a couple of weeks ago.  It is carved out of some scrap wood I found in my shed.  There were actually two scraps of the same type of wood, a square and this one.  This one is far from having right angles, which is why I was so interested in using it.  Basically… It’s got a lean to it from the left to the right side and the top has a slight wave which I think is gorgeous.  So far I have printed ten of this image.  I’m not sure yet what the finished edition will be.  It’s also still untitled at this point.  The other piece of wood, the square piece, I have been using for some color mixed process prints, which I’ll post pictures of when I get further along.

Have A great day.

Seaman’s Log: 3/29/2012

Homesick

Today is the day that my woodcuts are the images accompanying Seaman’s Log by Ben Leib.  The site is the daily journal of events on a boat in the Gulf of Mexico as experienced by the writer himself.  I have been following Ben’s work for awhile now and really look forward to reading each days posts.  I think his writing is magnificent and am very pleased that he wished to include my work in todays post.  Please check out what Ben has been doing, and follow his blog to keep up on what he will be doing.
